Recently I have drawn most of my inspiration and subject matter from exotic plants and vegetation: I am seduced by the luscious colors and strong organic shapes that evoke a tremendous positive energy and simultaneously have a calming and stabilizing influence.
Exploring the intricate mesh of shapes and colors of the organic forms is a continuing and enjoyable challenge: however complex and ambiguous, they nonetheless bring stillness and harmony.

I draw my composition into a strongly colored ground, gradually building up the values;often using a rag or palette knife to apply or remove paint, allowing a less selfconscious image to emerge.

I'm inspired not just by the reality from which my paintings stem, but also by the emotions evoked in me at the time. The colors I choose are derived from a fusion of reality and my feelings, so may differ from the ones perceived.

My goal is to share this exotic visual experience which transcends reality and energizes the spirit, bringing inner balance and harmony.
