Bark/natural edge turned wood bowls

(206) 842-7436

I started wood turning only about 8 years ago. Since that time it has become a real passion (my wife says obsession) with me. I like each bowl to exhibit some bit of functionality and to reflect the fact that it came from a tree (or grass in the case of bamboo). Most of the bowls that I turn have a bark or natural edge, which, I think reflects the tree origin. Most my work comes from Bainbridge trees that have fallen or been cut. I have a small cadre of tree and wood people on the Island and in the county who call me when interesting trees become available. There is also a healthy trading of wood between wood turners. I very seldom buy wood for turning and never from trees that have been harvested for turning.

Not surprisingly, my bowls come in small, medium and large sizes. Prices run from $25-60 for S, $60-120 for M and $120-300 for L. On the bottom of each finished bowl I write the name of the tree supplying the wood, the month and year that it was completed and my initials.
